When They Slow Down: Notice What Has Changed

Start with changes in activity, appetite, sleep and interaction to make follow-up conversations more specific.

Walking more slowly, jumping onto the sofa less often or grooming less than usual are worth recording. A single behavior cannot establish a diagnosis, and persistent changes should not be attributed solely to age.

Turn Observations into Useful Records

Note when a change occurs, its context and frequency. Take a short video during natural activity to share at the next visit. Do not ask your pet to repeat uncomfortable movements for the camera.

Contact your veterinarian if changes persist, worsen or affect eating, walking or rest. Records support communication but cannot replace an examination.
